Just following up on my previous post, C and I went to see Midnight in Paris last night. It was quite amusing, but I came away feeling somehow a little unsatisfied. I expressed this immediately afterwards by saying that I thought there was a far better film below the skin of this one, and today I have been gently exploring that intuition.( Alas, spoilers )

A little while ago I decided to take an interest in the films of Woody Allen. He's probably one of the most famous film makers that I know the least about. I've seen a number of his films, and I usually find myself wanting to like them more than I actually do.
